Jupiter's Unseen Significance
It's more than just the planet of expansion and travel.
Jupiter is known as the ruler of Sagittarius (and Pisces), and the planet of luck, expansion, and wisdom. This isn't necessarily wrong in any way, but this planet is significantly more important than we give it credit for in my opinion.
The Black Hole
The supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy, Sagittarius A*, sits permanently at 27° Sagittarius (26° 57’ to be exact) in any chart.
The black hole’s placement in your chart isn't super thoroughly studied, but in my head, if you just combine what black holes are scientifically with a whole bunch of metaphors and stuff, you get a pretty good idea of what it means.
Black holes are theoretically data banks, everything they eat leaves an imprint on their insides, leaving pieces of information everywhere. In this light, you could technically say that black holes know everything. Know-it-alls if you will.
They also have an unbelievably strong gravitational pull, so strong that they bend the very light around them, giving them their black hole appearance.
They devour anything and everything, and they will likely live longer than the universe itself. In the universe’s heat death, they, and black dwarves, will be the only things left, until eventually they (maybe) burn themselves off via Hawking radiation.
So what does that mean? Well, let’s sum it all up.
Blacks holes:
theoretically know everything
eat anything they want because of their gravity
live longer than forever
Now, of course we don't know all of this for sure, black holes are still mostly an enigma, but you can still grasp the symbolism.
Since Sagittarius A* sits permanently in the Sagittarius constellation and is even named after it, I would personally say it's pretty safe to assume that Jupiter doesn't rule Sagittarius, the black hole does.
Meaning Jupiter is equivalent to being the black hole’s messenger of sorts.
To us, you can't get much more intense than Sagittarius A*. Sure, there's the Laniakea galaxy supercluster that we're only a tiny speck in, but a black hole connects to the very fabric of the universe because it bends it and almost rips it (or maybe it does, we really don’t know).
Jupiter’s Expansion
So imagine Sagittarius A* is just source, god, whatever you wanna call it.
Jupiter, ruling Sagittarius in our books, has an inherent connection to source, making it into a divine messenger or divine scholar.
Jupiter/Sagittarius wants to learn everything, they wanna know why everything is and how it came into being. They want to tap into Sagittarius A*’s infinite well of universal knowledge. But Jupiter also:
Jupiter/Sagittarius can represent abundance, manifestation and luck, since black holes attract everything.
Jupiter/Sagittarius can represent expansion in multiple ways because the more a black hole consumes, the bigger and more powerful it becomes.
Jupiter/Sagittarius can be associated with creativity or creation entirely, because Quasars are essentially breeding grounds for baby stars and planets.
Jupiter/Sagittarius can be anything, because black holes can consume anything and therefore have anything at their cores.
But above all else, Jupiter/Sagittarius rule over our connection to the divine, what's unseen and what we can tune into with time.
Jupiter is not an inner planet, nor an outer planet, Jupiter is the bridge between both.
Jupiter is our understanding of what is bigger than us, and our desire to work with it.
Where Saturn defines, Jupiter expands.
Saturn is “I define who I become”, and Jupiter is “I am what I am not and all that is.”
Jupiter has no concept of time either, because black holes don't need one, they live so long that trying to put a number to it is like trying to measure Earth’s diameter with a 6ft measuring tape.
So when Jupiter is “all that is”, it's speaking in terms of time. Jupiter is connected to all that ever was and ever will be, but if time isn't linear, there is no was and there is no will be, there is only what is.
Because of Jupiter’s knowing of the circle that is time, it also encourages us to be present. If there is no was and no will be, then there is only the now, and the now is the only thing worth focusing on.
Chart Interpretation
So what does this mean for chart interpretations? Well, Jupiter can still stand for all it already does, that's the beauty of it, but now you have a deeper understanding of what it really is.
The sign that you have Jupiter in, or the planets you have Sagittarius in, can tell you a lot about what your personal divine scholarship is.
For example, my Jupiter is in 12° Scorpio, and I have always had a love for and morbid fascination with all things dark. Even the things that scare me the most I still have to learn about. I've always been inclined to the shadows in life, and I love knowing what's always swept under the rug, it's like a compulsion for me.
To amplify that, I have Pluto in Sagittarius in mutual reception with my Jupiter.
Jupiter in Gemini (Or Mercury in Sagittarius) could be someone who wants to learn literally everything, because Mercury loves learning just like Jupiter does.
Jupiter in Sagittarius could manifest similarly to Jupiter in Gemini, but it may take on a more spiritual tone. It could indicate a passion for learning the whys and hows of everything, like I said earlier.
Jupiter in Cancer can indicate something similar to Jupiter in Scorpio, it could bring an inclination to the darker things in life, but more specifically the darker feelings. They could seek to understand the ins and outs of the human subconscious and why things make us feel the way we do, even if it's something as simple as cuteness aggression.
Jupiter in Capricorn (Or Saturn in Sagittarius) could bring about a compulsion with all things Saturn. They could seek to learn more about themselves and their life path, what is true for them and others, and making friends with the inevitable passage of time, despite it not being linear.
Jupiter/Sagittarius placements can not only tell you what you are forever wanting to learn and truly understand, but also what you may be very good at or somehow have a lot of experience with (even if it's not practical experience you've gained from this lifetime.)
House Placements
The house placement would probably make more sense here. Jupiter in the 5th house, or 5th house in Sagittarius, could mean you're creatively gifted and have a lot of experience with or talent in the arts.
Jupiter in the 4th house could mean you have a lot of knowledge when it comes to home life or what it means to grow up in various environments, or even past lives. This awareness could mean you're good at nurturing yourself or the people around you.
Jupiter in the 10th house could mean you have a very fortunate career or are just generally good at your job. You might pick up skills relatively quickly or easily, as if you've done them before.
Jupiter in the 12th house could mean you're incredibly spiritually gifted, and you may act as a conduit for the divine, since Neptune rules the 12th house and shares a lot of similar spiritual themes with Jupiter.
Overall, Jupiter can mean a lot of different things, and so can Sagittarius.
People usually say Aries is associated with the fool card in Tarot, but Sagittarius makes way more sense, at least to me.
Sagittarius is perfect, because it's mutable (aka impressionable, like a young mind just stepping foot out into the world) and it's fire (aka the spark of life and passion).
So take this as you will, but always keep in mind that Jupiter has that inherent connection to our central black hole, and therefore has a lot more depth to it than it may seem at first glance.
Brightest Blessings,
Sam :)
